eLearning Integration

Our passion for education is deeply rooted within our company. Therefore, one of our major requirements of our HiHaHo Video Enrichment services is that it can be easily incorporated in digital learning technology for businesses, schools, universities and more.

That is why we have made sure that the videos you created with HiHaHo are compatible with Learning Management Systems (LMSs) and even Learning Record Stores (LRSs) so that every company or educational body that already has an online learning program in place can easily incorporate interactive video now, too. You can either download the video as a SCORM package or link it to your LRS with xAPI. Both will be explained in further detail below.

To go to these setting, go to your video editing page and then click on the gear button next to the preview button in the top right corner. You can also go to the more options drop down menu, and then click on video settings. Then proceed to the Reporting tab. Here you will find your external report integrations.

Before continuing, please do know that not every type of account allows the use of SCORM and xAPI. Please check the pricing page  for more information on which deal works best for your needs.

SCORM

You can download the video you’ve made interactive as a SCORM file, both SCORM 1.2 and 2004. Just click the download button and we’ll turn it into a nice little .zip file, which you can upload to the LMS you’re working with. Do mind that this process requires an open internet connection to HiHaHo.com.

SCORM has been the standard when it comes to elearning. Uploading the video as a SCORM package on your LMS will allow you to follow your users’ progress in the LMS. It will register when a student has started and/or completed watching, answered a question, and succeeded or failed the test, which comes in very handy if you like to track your users outside of HiHaHo.com.

The great thing about how we handle SCORM packages is that after you’ve uploaded the SCORM package, you don’t have to upload it again when you’ve made any changes. Adjustments are automatically linked to your SCORM package, so you don’t have to go through that hassle. You’re welcome!

xAPI

However, elearning has changed alongside the advances in technology over the last couple of years. SCORM packages have been the standard approach in recent years, but xAPI now allows us to do much more with online learning. xAPI goes beyond SCORM and allows you to track much more data.

With the help of xAPI, you can track microlearning, which means you can track small learning events such as reading a book, attending a seminar, or watching a video. The great thing about it is that it can track the results of learning videos outside of your LMS. For example, you can simply send a link to your HiHaHo video, which your users can click and then the results are stored automatically. In addition, it allows the storing of way more data than an LMS, as it reports more elaborately on the users’ actions in the video.

You can easily connect your LRS with xAPI by going to the reporting tab and to enable xAPI. xAPI works by sending commands to your LRS, we use the course and video xAPI recipes. Fill out the form by entering an endpoint, username, and password. HiHaHo will send activities to your LRS when the video starts and ends. All the data we save is encrypted.
